Who We Are

ImPACT Africa brings together academia, foundations, local medical training institutions, ministries of health, and non-governmental organizations to meet African countries’ needs for improved anesthesia care and training.

ImPACT Africa was established in 2014 with initial funding from GE Foundation and the goals to train anesthesia providers and educators for Kenya at AIC Kijabe Hospital/Kijabe College of Health Sciences and Kenya Medical Training College in Kisumu; develop a novel data collection system for perioperative outcomes in low-resource settings; and create new learning resources for anesthesia education with the potential for global application.

Over the last five years, ImPACT Africa has expanded and replicated its programs throughout Kenya, leading to a 200% increase in the number of Kenyan Registered Nurse Anesthetists practicing nationwide between 2014 and 2018. In 2018, ImPACT Africa launched in Ethiopia, where we currently operate in the Amhara and Tigray regions as well as Addis Ababa.
